What is an MBSE Coach?

A coach doesn’t make great plays.

A coach helps make great players, and they in turn accomplish great things!

A coach doesn't take the field. I don't intend to become embedded in a client's systems engineering organization. I intend to help my client's organization develop more capable systems engineers.

A coach equips the players. I make sure key individuals know the basics of MBSE and SysML, and I work with them to meaningfully apply it to their specific domain or business. This involves selection of tools and methods, careful selection of pilot projects, and preparation of work instructions.

A coach ensures that the players have a plan, and then guides them through executing it. I help clients prepare systems engineering strategy, procedures, tool and method selection, and training. My client's organic staff on the program are responsible for program execution, and it’s my role to make them successful.

A coach encourages the team. I continue to engage my clients and collaborate with them in broader projects, participating in technical venues to share their successes and shape the future of systems engineering.
